Marine Services Overview
EP Marine & Rail is a unique bespoke inspection and reporting company. Based in the UK with a network of depots throughout. At its heart, we are infrastructure and asset protection engineers offering the non-destructive testing (NDT) of bollards and marine structures.
Our founding business is based in the overhead power industry where we gained our vast experience and knowledge assessing and testing overhead power pylons and poles for some of the UK’s largest Distribution Network Operators.
It was through this experience, expertise and our technical division that a UK defence partner contacted us to assess the ability of their older facilities to accommodate the soon to arrive new QE class aircraft carrier. From our subsequent comprehensive report, EP Marine & Rail could completely reassure the client of their ability to safely handle these types of much larger vessels and in turn, identified a dramatic increase in the safe working loads of the deck structures and bollards assessed, enabling cranage and handling equipment to be considerably uplifted creating substantial commercial and operational benefits. Because of these dramatic increases, the client required physical samples of the decks and piles to be independently assessed by Lloyd’s. This was done with the measured results showing only a 5% variance with our calculated results.
EP Marine & Rail Services has significant experience and expertise in conducting marine bollard inspections for both commercial and MOD port operators. We have developed and adopted industry leading inspection protocols which provide detailed, accurate and reliable information to assist port operators in surveying and data recording the condition of their marine bollards in a non-destructive cost effective manner.
Other key factors to consider:
- We operate with an exemplar Health, Safety and Environment record
- We operate a 24-hour national deployment workforce – working to either planned port movement or as and when bollards become available or damaged
- We operate an industry recognised Achilles QMS
- In addition to marine bollards, we carry out bespoke structural testing and reporting on jetties, quays, crane rails, tie rods, sheet piles and dock gates
